Why Retro?

I started wondering the other day why do people like vintage gaming. Why do I like vintage gaming? So in this article I've investigated my deep deep subconscious and come up with some answers.
First I will start by voicing my problems with modern games. I never play any action games on newer consoles. Why? The main reason is because there all the same damn thing now. The only difference between the games is one has better graphics or the hot girl star is wearing even less clothes now. The only games I ever play on newer consoles are rpg's and there even beginning to look bland.
There's a few inherent flaws in the video game industry that are just making things worse and worse. The constant rush for better graphics is one. Here's another one. SEQUELS. Sequels gross aprox. 125% more than their predecessors. When you add that to a system where capitalism rules you end up forcing (haha force as if they don't want the money) corporations into a constant grab for more and more money. And where is the money? It's in sequels and rehashed games. Sequels are not necessarily bad at one time they were great but now they have just gotten to be too much.
All these problems leave you with a vicious circle where 70-80% of games that come out are sequels or retreads. And the 20% of games that are not sequels are afraid of straying to far from success so their games just look and play the same as everyone else's. (except with better graphics) Systems like the Atari2600 and 5200, NES and the SNES were so great not because of graphics or because they were the newest thing but because of great gameplay and original ideas. No future system will ever be able to develop games as good or as original as the first ones.
Well that's basically it. That's why I would prefer retrogaming to scrambling for the next big system. Sadly games will never be as good as they were. Nobody can ever recreate the success and the feeling of they old NES. Sometimes I wonder if anyone will ever make a good game again. Maybe. Maybe not. Either way I will still have my old dusty NES and it wont matter to me.
